Swine Flu- group work 5/7

Our historic event is the swine flu outbreak from 2009. We are mystifying it to be Swine flu to be the Jersey Shore. People often blamed jersey shore as a decline of culture. However, the show was infectious in the sense that people loved it and applied the speaking style to their own lives. People were concerned about behavior in both aspects because one is physical behavior like covering your mouth; the other is cultural behavior. Jersey Shore garnered up to 9 million views and spread infectiously.
The first case of Swine Flu in the US was a 10 year-old in California and the first episode of Jersey Shore takes place on the East Coast. The cast is mostly Italian-American "Guidos." much like the first case spread, Guido spread spread over a lot of America, as phrases like "GTL (Gym Tan Laundry) became increasingly popular. One may call this a cultural infection. CDC found that the Swine Flu was less likely to affect people over 60. The Jersey Shore infection was also a lot less likely to infect people within this age group.
The Swine Flu also has many names like the cast of the Jersey Shore. For example, Jennifer goes by Jwoww. Although the Swine Flu was a serious pandemic, It had names such as H1N1 that were more scientific. The more scientific name is not as applicable to the masses as H1N1 and people understood what a swine flu was more than "Influzena A: H1N1. ust like Snooki is more marketable than Nicole P, Swine Flu is better name-wise than H1N1.
